Pronucleus

(pro-mi’-kle-us) [pro, before; nucleus, nucleus]. One of the two nuclear bodies of a newly fecundated ovum, the male P. and the female P., the fusion of which results in the formation of the first embryonic nucleus. Proof-spirit. See Spirit. 527
