Family of Arc to idea, characterized by having one upper and two lower molars on each side; the last upper premolar is carna ial. Strong scent glands are usually present. They are semi plantigrade to digitigrade: the BADGER (q. v.) is truly plantigrade. America has also the Skunk ( Mephitis ), whose anal glands secrete the most penetrating and offensive odor known. Its bite sometimes produces rabies. Its color is variable black and white. In this family are also included the Otters ( Lutra and Enhydris ), the Martens and Sables ( Mustela ), Weasel and Ferret ( Put or i us ). Also the Minks, Ermine and Wolverine.
