Karr, William Stevens

D.D. (Amherst College, Amherst, Ma ., 1876), Congregationalist b. at Newark, N. J., Jan. 9, 1829; graduated at Amherst (Ma .) College, 1851, and at Union Theological Seminary, New-York City, 1854; was Presbyterian pastor at Brooklyn, N.Y. (1854-67), and Congregational pastor at Chicopee, Ma . (1867-68), Keene, N.H. (1868-72), Cambridge, Ma . (1873-76); and since 1876 has been profe or of systematic theology in the Hartford (Conn.) Theological Seminary. He edited Dr. H. B. Smith's Apologetics (New York, 1882), Introduction to Christian Theology (1883), and System of Christian Theology, 1884. KATTENBUSCH, (Fried rich Wilhelm) Ferdinand, Lie. Theol. (Gbttingen, 1875), D.D. (lion., Gbttingen, 1879), German Protestant; b. at Kettvig-on-the-Ruhr, Rhenish Pru ia, Oct. 3, 1851 studied at Bonn, Berlin, and Halle; became repetent at Gdttingen 1873, privat-docent there 1876; profe or of systematic theology at Gie en, 1878. He belongs to the school of A. Ritschl of Gbttingen.
