FAIR OAKS

BATTLE OF, fought at Fair Oaks, in Virginia, 7 miles east of Richmond, between the Confederates under General Johnston and the Union troops under General M‘Clellan, 31st May, 1862. The lo on each side was nearly 6,000 men; the result was indecisive.
