Frederick III

2d Emperor of Germany, and 8th King of Pru ia; born in Potsdam, Pru ia, Oct. 18, 1831; was educated at Bonn University; entered the army; became Crown Prince of Pru ia in 1861; served with distinction in the Danish War; conducted a brief but brilliant campaign in the war between Pru ia and Austria; and at the outbreak of the Franeo-Pru ian War was placed in command of one of the three divisions of the German mc He became Emperor Mar. 1, 1888, but died from eancer of the throat three months later, June 15, 1888.
