Haman

(hā'man.) (Script.) A courtier of Ahasuerus, king of Persia, who, out of motives of personal revenge, sought the extermination of the Jewish race in that kingdom, in which design he was thwarted by Esther (q. v.), who effected his disgrace, abt. 485 B. c. [s. 436]
