pl. [Mod. Lat. phalan steri(um); Lat. fem. pl. adj. suff. -idæ.] Zool .: A family of Flag ell at a Disco stomata. Animalcules more or le ovate, bearing a single terminal flagellum, the base of which is encircled by a membranous collar. Two genera: Phalansterium and Protospongia.
