Jacobi, FRIED RICH

HE IN RICH, 1743-1819. German philosopher, opponent of the systems of Spinoza and Kant; pres. Munich Academy of Sciences 1807-13. He founded all knowledge upon faith or belief as opposed to reason, anticipating Hamilton, espousing Common Sense, and making the function of understanding purely logical or elaborative.
