Locusts (GRASSHOPPERS)

The largest is the Rocky Mountain locust, which may attain a length of 3 to 4 inches; its ravages are justly feared. When very abundant, other species Locust ( Pachytylus migrator i us ). may do damage. They may be combated by spreading poisoned bran, by spraying Paris green, or by gathering in a "hopper-dozer," which is a large tray containing kerosene, that can be dragged over the ground.
