Hematoxylon campechianum. Small tree of the natural family Leguminosa, native of Central America and naturalized in the W. Indies, producing a deep red wood, from which the dye of commerce is derived. See HÆMATOXYLIN and Η ΕΜΑΤΕΙΝ.
