Lattice work of wood, employed for various purposes; for instance; as a foot-board for the man at the wheel,..Wheel-grating*’; also placed at cabin-, and galley-entrances, or used as head-boards of a ve el, as foot-boards in a boat etc. See Plate 98. 33. The term grating is also given to the framework (usually bra ) of plain bars for protecting the gla of a cabin-, engine-room-, or me room-skylight; window in a wheel-house, etc.
