rip'pl, v. i. [-pled (-pld), -pling.] To become fretted or dimpled on the surface, as water running over a rough bottom; to be covered with small waves or undulations; to make a sound like the breaking of ripples on the shore. — v. t. To fret or dimple, the surface of running water. — n. The fretting dimpling of the surface of water; a little wave undulation.
