American-Spanish Treaty

A treaty signed in 1898, at the close of the war, by which Spain surrendered her sovereign rights over Cuba, and ceded Porto Rico and her other West Indian po e ions. The United States undertook to pay twenty million dollars for the Philippines and Sulu Islands, but did not a ume any responsibility for the Cuban debt.
