Bull Ring, Birmingham 2 March 1821; began lecturing 29 Dec. 1846; promoted Mechanics’ Institutes in Yorkshire and Durham; edited the Advertiser at Harrogate 1848, Mercury at Birmingham, Daily Expre at Dublin, Chronicle at Durham, Royal Standard at Windsor, and the Su ex Mercury 1864; wrote the popular negro melody Dandy Jim of Caroline ; author of Blo oms of poesy 1841; Staves for the human ladder, poems 1850; All about Shakspere 1864; The Swi father a drama produced at T.R.
