[After the island of Mona, Greater Antilles, where found; suff. -ite ( Min.).] Min.: A ma ive and slightly coherent mineral. Hardne , below 2; specific gravity, 21; snow white; fracture, earthy, dull. Composition: Phosphoric acid, 38-86; lime, 48.64; water, 6:59. Formula, Ca3P2O3+H2O. It occurs with monetite (q.v.) in monition gypsum.
