(vi’-o-let) [viola, violet]. I. One of the colors of the spectrum, very closely resembling the purple of violets and po e ing the greatest refrangibility of the spectral colors. 2. A violet dye-stuff. V., Gentian, a violet anilin dye used for staining in histologic and bacteriologic work. V., Methyl-. See Methyl-violet. Violinist’s Cramp, Violin-player’s Cramp.
