WALD, LILLIAN

(1867,) an American settlement worker, b. in Ohio. After @ private education she studied in the New York Hospital Training School for Nurses and the Women’s Medical College. In 1893 she founded and has ever since been head of the Henry Street Nurses’ Settlement, in New York City, which instituted district nursing. It was at her initiative that Congre , in 1908, created the Federal Children’s Bureau.
