1. A genus of tropical trees. A. occident ale yields cashew gum and the cashew nut. 2. The oil of the pericarp of the cashew nut, known as cardol, and used as an escharotic. Of reputed value in leprosy. A. Tinct., I to 10 of rectified spirit. Dose, A. Ung., one part of the tar to eight of lard or vaselin. Used as a blistering ointment.
