Magic Square

One in which the numbered cells add up the same amount; said to have been used by the Egyptians and Pythagoreans to impose on the credulous, They are much used as talismans in Mohammedan countries, and are known to the Chinese, one of whose most ancient magical diagrams is a square, the sum of which each way is fifteen.
