A liquid obtained in the manufacture of cellulose: its vapor, whic! contains sulphurous acid and various aromatic principles, is inhaled for pulmonary disorders. lig no sulph in (lig-no-sul’fin) (L. lig’num wood + sulphur|. A disinfectant by-product of the manufacture of sulphocellulose. um (lig’num) [L. gen. lig’ni]. Latin for wood.. rho’dium, the wood of Am’yris balsam if'era, a tree of tropical America. 1. vi’twe. See guaiacum. in, ligroine (lig’ro-in). A volatile inflammable liquid, used as a solvent in pharmacy and chemistry. ligula (lig’u-lah) [L. “strap”].
