WOOD, George W. Born in Haver hill, Ma .,: Died in Geneseo, N. Y., He was educated at Dart mouth July 17, 1901. College and Princeton Seminary; ordained by the Presbytery of Elizabeth, N. J., in 1837; mi ionary of the American Board, Singapore, 1838; transferred to Constantinople, 1842; returned home, 1850; corresponding secretary of the American Board, resident in New York, 1852-1871; then reentered upon mi ionary work in Con- February 14, 1814. Wood stock; WusTieli stantinople and continued for fifteen years until his state of health required his return to America, after 48 years of service of the Board. Dr. Wood was accomplished in the art of dealing with men, and was the author of tracts, periodical articles, and books in Armenian, the latter including commentaries on several of the New Testament epistles and on the Book of Revelation.
