Lippi, FILIPPO

1412-1469. Florentine monk and painter. Important frescoes of his are at Prato, and many fine easel Deliverance of St. Peter, by Filippo Lippi. pictures are extant.-His reputed son, FILIPPINO, ab. 14571504, has important frescoes in Maria Novella and in Brancacci Chapel, at Florence. Next to Ma accio, and with Sign or ell i, he was the most powerful fresco painter of his time. He left also many fine easel pictures.
