[ Nandine (Nandin i a binotata). handsome kind of paradoxure having a double row of spots along the sides, inhabiting Guinea. Nandin i a (nan-din'i-ä), n. [NL., from a native name.] A genus of viverrine quadrupeds of the family Fond detine of doxurine; the nandines. J. E. Gray, 1864. nandu (nan'do), n. [S. Amer.] The South American ostrich, Rhea american a, and other species of that genus. Also spelled nandoo.
