bob, re. Anything that plays loosely, or with jerks; bait used in angling; the' ball of a pendulum — or plumb-line. — v. t. [bobbed (bobd), bobbing.] To move in a short, jerking manner; to strike with a quick, light blow: to gain by fraud, delude; to have the haircut short. — v. i.
