Canaris

CONST AN TINE, (kah-nā'ris,) a Greek patriot, B. abt. 1790. He served with distinguished valor against the Turks in his country's war of independence, and destroyed several Turkish ve els of war in the harbors of Scio and Tenedos, in 1822. In 1824, he won a naval victory over the enemy at Samos. [s. 135]
