[In Fr. adultère; Ital. adultero; Lat. adulter.] [ADULTERY.] I. Ordinary Language: Law : A married man who has sexual commerce with a woman, married or unmarried, who is not his wife. Or an unmarried man who has such intercourse with a married woman. "There foul adulterers to thy bride resort." Pope: Homer's Ody ey, xi, 148. II. Scripture & Theology : 1. In the same sense as No. I. "The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saving. No eye shall see me and disguiseth his face. -Job xxiv. 15. 2.
