Epsom

(ep'zum,) a town of England, co. Surrey, 15 m. S.S.W. of London. It is situate on Bumstead Downs, and is famous for the horse-races annually held; the chief of which is the " Derby;" to see which run for seldom fewer than 1,000,000 persons are present. Pop. 7,000. [s. 336]
