Ephemera

(ef-em'-er-ah). The name given by old physicians to short and slight febrile attacks occurring in the lying-in period. These fevers were of frequent occurrence, and of slight significance. They indicated a small amount of septic infection. E. malign a. See Anglicus sudor.
