(hé'liks,) pl. HELICES. [Gr., a spiral. ] (Zool.) See HELICIDE.-(Arch.) Anything which is spiral or winding; as, for instance, a winding staircase, or the small curling volute under the flowers of the Corinthian capital. (Anat.) See EAR.(Geom.) A non-plane curve, the tangents of which present an equal inclination to a right stationary line. [s. 447]
