Manna

(man’ -ah) [iiavva, manna]. The concrete, saccharine exudation of the flowering ash, Fraxinus ornus, and other trees. Manna contains a sweet principle, mannite or raannitol, C6Hu06, a sugar, a purgative principle, and a mucilage. Some specimens contain also a glucosid, fraxin. Manna is a mild laxative.
