[Ir. mind, a crown, diadem.] A diadem: a name given to lunettes found in Ireland, commonly supposed to have been used as head-ornaments. Gold ornament believed to be the ancient Celtic mind or head ornament, formed of a thin semi-lunar plate of gold with raised ribs. S. K. Cat . Spec . Exhib . , 1862, No. 851. The richer and more powerful kings wore a similar torque about the waist, and a golden mind or diadem on state occasions. Encyc. Brit ., XIII. 257. mind-cure (mind'kūr), n.
