—1. That part of a generator or magneto that furnishes the magnetic field. In a dynamo the inductor is an electromagnet, in a magneto it is a permanent artificial magnet. 2. A heavy ma of soft iron, laminated to avoid eddy currents, which is carried on the rotor of an inductor generator to increase the number of lines of force i uing from the poles of the stator.
