[Gr. geō, for geios -belonging to the land, and Eng. navigation (q. v.).] A term proposed for that branch of the science of navigation in which the position of a ship at sea is determined by reference to some other spot on the surface of the earth. Opposed to Cœlo-navigation (q. v.). on-ô-mỹ, s . [Gr. geō , for geios =belonging to the earth, and nomos a law.) The science of the physical laws relating to the earth, as geology and physical geography. gě-õph-a-ģişm, s .
