RECESS

In the practice of the courts, a rece is a short interval or period of time during which the court suspends busine , but without adjourning. See In re Gannon. 69 Cal. 541, 11 Pac. 240. In legislative practice, a rece ls the interval, occurring in,consequence of an adjourflment, between the se ions of the same continuous legislative · body; not the interval between the final ad· journment of one body' and the convening of another at the next regular se ion.
