[Gr. erythema =redne ; ereu thos =red.] Med .: Uniform redne , with puffine of the skin, seldom accompanied by general febrile disturbance, and not extending to the areolar ti ue. The chief variety is Erythema nodosum. The redne and bumps gradually subside. It is commonest in young females, but is also seen in feeble boys. Itis often a symptom of some other disease, as in measles or scarlatina, in which case active treatment of it may kill the patient; but if otherwise, painting with nitrate of silver generally induces a favorable resolution. ěr-th-ě-măt'-Ic, a.
