The state or quality of being abrupt. (a) The state or quality of being broken off, steep, or craggy;; sudden breach of continuity; precipitousne . (b) Suddenne ; unceremonious haste or vehemence. (c) Any want of continuity or smoothne . Some other languages, for their soft and melting fluency, as having no abruptne of consonants, have some advantage of the English.
