Benoit

Pierre Leopold Leonard, a Flemish musician and composer, born in Harelbeke, Belgium, Aug. 17, 1884; a pupil of Fetis. He has held the position of Director of ‘the Flemish School of Music in Antwerp since 1867; and has written a ‘number of oratorios, cantatas, and operas. Benteen _—— Benteen, Frederick William, a American military officer, born in etersburg, Va., Aug. 24, 1834; was educated in his native State; and at the outbreak of the Civil War went to Mi ouri and organized a company of Union volunteers. His most brilliant service after the war was in his campaigns against the Indians. He died in Atlanta, Ga., June 22, 1898.
