(Bentham and Hooker, 1876), Mimulus + -eæ.] A subtribe of plants of the order Scrophularineæ and the tribe Gratioleæ , characterized by a five toothed calyx, by having the stamens inserted within the corolla-tube, with the anther-cells contiguous, and by a loculicidal capsule with two or four valves. The subtribe embraces 6 genera, Mimulus being the type, and about 56 species. Mimulus (mim'ū-lus), n. [NL. (Linnæus, 1753), so called from the resemblance of its corolla to a mask;
