[Native South American name.] Bot.: Lecythis ollaria . sapucaia-brown, s. Chem.: A brown substance found in the shells of the older fruit of the Sapucaia tree. It is probably the oxidized tannin of the fresh fruit. Soluble in hot water and alcohol.
