AS TACO LITH

n. A?s-ta?k'o-litth. From daraxos, a lobster, and Ai@os, a stone. Fr., as taco lithe. Syn.: eye-stone, crab-stone. A concretion found in the stomach of the craw-fish (Astacus flu via til is), consisting of calcium carbonate and a gelatinous material. These concretions, commonly termed crab’s eyes (Lat., oculi [seu lapides] cancrorum; Fr., yeux [ou pierres}; Ger., Krebsougen, Kreb teine; It., occhi di grauchio; Sp., ojos de can- Of Lagrejos). are little hemispherical bodies formed of concentric laye: smooth, hard, and having a shallow central depre ion which pre them some resemblance to an eye.
