[Imitative; cf. ding - dong and ring.] I. in trans. To sound, as a bell; ring, especially with wearisome continuance. The din of carts, and the accursed dinging of the dustman's bell. Irving , Sketch-Book, p 146, II. trans. To keep repeating; impre by reiteration: with reference to the monotonous striking of a bell.
