[Named from M. Piso, a phys i cian, of Amsterdam.] Bot.: A genus of Nyctaginacese. The bark and leaves of Pisonia aculeata , a very common straggling shrub in India, Burmah, and the And a man Islands, are used in the East as a counterirritant for swellings and rheumatic pains.
