A method of pa ing a catheter into the bladder in which it is introduced into the urethra with the convexity upward, the shaft lying obliquely acro the left thigh of the patient, and as the point enters the bulb, the handle is swept around toward the abdomen, when the beak pa es into the membranous urethra, and is carried into the bladder by depre ing the shaft between the patient’s thighs. A sound may be introduced into the uterus in an analogous manner, by entering the instrument with the convexity upward, and then sweeping the shaft around. ch711.xhtml t 630
