[E. Ind.] The common name in India of the tree Ca ia Fistula, which is in general cultivation there for ornament and shade. See cut under Ca ia. Amaltheidæ (am-al-the'i-dē), 'i-dē), n. n. pl. pl. [NL., [NL., A mal the us +-ida.] A family of tetrabranchiate cephalopods, typified by the genus Amal the us. The species are extinct, and flourished during the Secondary Secondary epoch.
