Neuralgia of the heart. A chronic fatal disease, in which paroxsyms of severe pain occur, accompanied by a sense of suffocation. During the intervals, which may last a few hours or several months, the general health is usually good. It attacks men more often than women, is frequently inherited, may alternate with various nervous disorders, and usually occurs in advanced life, except when caused by exce ive smoking.
