(mees-so-lõng'ge,) a seaport-town of Greece, in Ætolia, on the N. shore of the Gulf of Patras, 24 m. W. of Lepanto. This place stood a memorable siege during the Greek War of Independence, and was the spot where the poet Byron D. in 1824. Pop. 6,059. [s. 607]
