Ringworm

(-wŭrm.) (Med.) A disease which appears in circular patches on the neck, forehead, or scalp. It begins with clusters of little pustules, which form scales, leaving a red pimply surface, and destroying the roots of the hair as it spreads over the head. It is very contagious, and is so capricious that what will effect a cure in one case is found quite ineffective in another. [s. 772]
