[In Fr. arcuation. From Lat. arcuatus = bent in the form of a bow; arcuo = to bend like a bow; arcus = a bow.] A. Ordinary Language: 1. The act of bending any thing; incurvation. 2. The state of being bent. B. Technically : Gardening: The method of propagating certain trees by bending down to the ground the branches which spring from the offsets or shoots after they have been planted. Arcuation is adapted for the elm, lime, alder, and the willows, which cannot easily be raised from seed.
