Foliation

(fo-le-a's hun.) [From Fr. folium, a leaf.] The act of beating a metal into thin leaves or plates; also, the operation of covering the backs of looking gla es with a thin coat of tinfoil and quicksilver;otherwise termed foliating.-(Bot.)
