Hydroquinone

Quinol, a divalent phenol that results on boiling arbutin with dilute or from the oxidation of anilin. It crystallizes in monoclinic leaflets and hexagonal prisms, that melt at 1690 C. It is readily soluble in water, alcohol, and ether, and is valuable as an antipyretic, without producing injurious after-effects; it is also used as an antiseptic. Dose gr.
